Gettin' my cranky on.
Posted By Rubi at 3/09/2005 06:30:00 PM
Gah. I'm so grumpy today. And I'm even grumpier because I have no good reason to be grumpy. (Grumpy grumpy grumpy...the word just loses Alll meaning.)
Moving on. Tomorrow is the day I leave on my trip. I'll be here with three good friends:
http://www.ckscrapbookevents.com/tn2005/
I have no sense of anticipation whatsoever. I'm cranky, and lethargic, and in a kind of packing fugue state. (Lordy, did I even spell that right? I'm stupider than usual tonight.) The task of packing for a lousy four day trip seems so overwhelming I'm just completely blocking it out. All I can think is that I'm meeting 15 ladies for dinner Friday night, and I don't have a shirt in the right colors. (Shut up. It's a thing - there will be lots of photos and we're all supposed to be wearing specific colors.) I have a sinking feeling I'll be at Target in the morning after dropping Elizabeth off at school, frantically trying to find a long sleeved shirt in the damnable sherbert-y colors that wash me out.
What the frilly heck is wrong with me? For weeks, I've been so jazzed about this trip that my voice has permanantly risen an octave. Now that it's here, all I can think is "Hey, I need to get the kids in bed, because American Idol is on in 15, and I want to see the girl with the funny name and stupid cowgirl outfit."

Gettin' my cranky on.

I hate memes.

1) What is your favorite kitchen appliance? What? Huh? I don't know, I guess the stove. Because, you know, it cooks things.
2) What kind of cookware do you have? Whatever was cheap at the time. I'd love to have some good long lasting stuff.
3) What color are your countertops and cabinets? Yeah, what Kev said. Why am I answering this thing? My answers are going to be pretty much the same as his.
4) Name one kitchen appliance or gadget that you wish you had. New range. The flat top kind.
5) Describe your dream kitchen. Big, spacious. HUGE fridge and freezer. Island in the middle with electrics and running water. Tons of storage space. Walk-in pantry. Breakfast nook with bar stool seating. Room for eat in kitchen (I can't stand separate "formal" dining rooms - waste of space.)

Sunday Brunch for March 6, 2005

1) What is your favorite kitchen appliance? The phone. For ordering take out.
2) What kind of cookware do you have? Whatever was cheap at the time. And a couple of Pampered Chef things that Rubi insisted on.
3) What color are your countertops and cabinets? Countertop: Old nasty house yellowish-wood colored. Cabinets: uh... kind of in-between right now. They're kind of sanded down to basic wood, with some leftover paint on them that difficult to remove (in various colors). The doors are in the garage (sanded) waiting to be painted, as are the base cabinets (still hung on the wall and full of dishware).
4) Name one kitchen appliance or gadget that you wish you had. A housekeeper to cook and clean for us. Okay, uhm... a professional grade food processor or mixer.
5) Describe your dream kitchen. Big, spacious. HUGE fridge and freezer. Island in the middle with electrics and running water. Tons of storage space. Walk-in pantry. Breakfast nook with bar stool seating. Room for eat in kitchen (I can't stand separate "formal" dining rooms - waste of space.) Room for a computer with recipes/a recipe program installed (networked to the other computers in the house, so Rubi and I can IM each other from across the house. Me: "Hey babe! Whens dinner?" Her: "Whenever the Dominos guy gets here!")
Rubi needs to answer this one too! (hint)

Interviewed
Posted By kevbayer at 3/05/2005 02:31:00 AM
Christopher at What In Tarnation? is doing brief interviews with several bloggers.
I'm a lucky participant!
Here's my Q&A (Questions from WIT):
1. What is the best Star Trek series. Be able to defend your answer. (Yes I need to take that quiz that you have at your blog.) ST:DS9 (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). Best cast of characters. Not only did it remain firmly entrenched in Rodenberry's universe, it expanded it. It wasn't afraid to shake up the status quo. Characters made decisions, and had to face the repercussions of those decisions (After Worf rescued Jadzia instead of finishing his mission to get info from a spy, Sisko told Work, because of what he did he would probably never get command of his own starship). When other series running at the same time (or the movies) made changes to the Trek-verse, DS9 kept up the continuity and made changes to reflect incidents in the other Trek incarnations.
2. Name one thing that most people would think is unusual that makes you smile. One thing? Dark humor associated with my job.
3. What is your favoritest TV show ever? Stargate SG-1
4. What is one thing you would like to learn how to do by the end of the year? Program PHP
5. Who is your favorite teacher and why? Hmm... this is a hard one. A real teacher (licensed and teaching in a school)? or a mentor that has taught me things? or one of my kids teachers? I'll go with "who was my favorite teacher when I was in school"? Mr. Wooten. He toed the line on what he could get away with in class, without being rude or disrespectful, or too un-politically correct. He encouraged his students to think about common things differently. He encouraged us to be free-thinkers, he excercized our creativity. He made us laugh. Sounds like an obit. But I don't he's dead, just retired.
