I read your list to nbe thankful for - googled the subject and used part of it to send out to my family:
here's what I wrote;
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi There!
I was watching a movie on DVD last night and in the scene there was a plaque above the kitchen entrance that read: "Count Your Blessings" and it made me wonder if anyone ever actually "counts" their blessings?

Some of My Blessings are:
My life - Without my life I wouldn't have any of the other things I'm thankful for.
That I live in a Free Country - One I have the the right of the Pursuit of Happiness
That I am healthy, today
That I can do the little things without anyone telling me I can't - listen to music, watch my favorite tv shows, drive a car, vote, express my opinions without persecution
That I have my Mom and Dad in my life - and they are healthy and happy married people
That I have true friends - I was challenged this year and my true friends showed up to help...I'm blessed that I have more than I realized!
That I have my Siblings - and we still share our lives
That even though my family is facing severe health challenges that we have love, faith in God , and modern medicine to help fight their battles
That my son and his cousins are all very healthy, happy, and intelligent people
That I am aware that the most important things in life are NOT things - they are the people and our relationships
That I enjoy my career - and with hard work and persistence I sometimes get lucky at my success!
That I have my health - my sight, hearing, speech, thoughts, ability to walk, and sooo much more
That I can feed my family healthy and tasty food
That there is endless supply of Toilet paper - hey try going with out it...you'll be thankful to have it again!
That we have our pet bird Bowser - he brings a song in our home every day
That my son has his sense of humor - he reminds me it's more fun being 11 than 45...and you can take time being 11 at any age!
That i have a warm and safe place to live
That i have my car
That God loves me
That I learned this year golf is really not that important - did I just say that?
That there are planes - it makes seeing this world so much easier
That my son has finally embraced music and acting - he now realizes that life is more than sports and video games
That my son understands the importance of helping others and takes action on his own to do so.
That when I wake up in the morning that I am almost 6' above ground instead of 6' under
That we have four seasons - and that there are planes to take me to warmer climates in the winter - (I already mentioned planes, didn't I?)
That I have a great big wonderful extended family
That I'm allowed the freedom to go to church and worship as I see .
That I have a computer, Internet, and the ability to express this Thanksgiving message.
That someone invented pizza and beer
That there are Comedians
That the teachers in my son's school chose that career - so I don't have to home school him...
That there are so many trees, rivers, lakes, and mountains surrounding my home town
That modern medicine can save so many lives and allow them to fight disease and recover!
That I can enjoy my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and In-laws over the holidays - and then go home.
That I care more about what I can put under the tree rather than what someone else put under it for me.
That Dominic now knows Santa's real name is Mom and Dad
That I don't smoke (anything)
That I have a best friend, and a lot who are tied for second place!
That there there people brave enough to do the jobs of putting themselves in harms way to protect me and my family, so I don't have to.
That the company Apple invented the iPod
That I get to read - Books that change my thinking for the better
That my favorite hobby is being Dominic's Dad
That my Dad has new stories he sprinkles in with the others I heard a "few" times.
That my Mom has spent years developing the family tree and documenting our family history.
That I am able to use my talents to make a positive impact with others
That I rarely use that knowledge to get myself or friends in trouble (anymore)
That we have photographs.
That I don't have to cook Thanksgiving Dinner this year- it's a lot of work.
That both my parents have a sense of humor - even though my Mom says "your Dad thinks he's funny and he's not!". Which in itself is pretty funny.
That the person reading this right now is in my life!
I wrote this because I have had a challenging year - with my own struggles and a few very close family members had much greater struggles they are still battling!

2007 has been the most difficult year of my families life and I made the decision to focus on the Blessings not the difficulties.

My list of Blessing to count could have easily doubled and my list of difficulties is only a fraction!

Please reply with something on your Blessing List that I neglected to count - I look forward to hearing them!

Love, Barry

One more Blessing: I am Thankful that I am not a turkey today!
