Whee!

This was definitely the weekend for goofy and unflattering photos of me. Friday night, at my sister's apartment, celebrating her birthday with friends:



All I can think of looking at this is "beached whale", lol. This was in between the restaurant and going out dancing.


Then again Saturday night, going out to dinner celebrate a coworker's birthday. We all spent the last two hours of work getting ready: hair, makeup, changing clothes, etc. I'd been running around taking pics of everyone getting ready, so someone returned the favor with this oh so flattering shot of me redoing my toenail polish.



NICE. Obviously I hadn't done my hair yet - that's an attractive part smack down the middle. And I apparently haven't had sunlight on my body in about 6 years. (Ironically enough, I had a raging sunburn on my chest, back, and face when this shot was taken. Guess none of that UV filtered down to my legs...)

However, I had the most enjoyable weekend I've had in quite a while, so a few blackmail shots are worth it!

Opinions please:

Whirlpool workers have been suspended for smoking as all 39 of them had reportedly claimed they were non-smokers on their health insurance.
The company requires smokers to pay an extra $500 in insurance premiums. A company spokesperson said the workers were seen smoking in designated smoking areas outside the plant.
Whirlpool considers that falsifying documents, a serious offense. More suspensions could come later.


The headline for this article reads: "Whirlpool workers suspended for smoking".


Whee! Nothing like putting a spin on the facts! If I'm not mistaken, these employees were suspended for lying on their insurance paperwork to save $500. Not for smoking. They lied, they got caught, they faced consequences. It seems fairly straightforward to me. However, there are lots of local opinions that say different. Mostly along the lines of "They're discriminating against smokers!!1!!1!"

I loved this movie, and loved this song so much I had to put the video on my MySpace page.

It's a very, very sweet song, but also hilarious. With Robert being all cynical and annoyed the whole time, and poor Edward vaulting off the bridge and getting flattened, I laughed and said "awww" pretty much the whole time.
