Trying not to be a fanatical soccer mom.

But MAN, it's hard. Elizabeth is in the Alpha soccer league (1st and 2nd graders) at her school. This is her second year playing for the Stars. Last year, the team scored two goals all season, and didn't win a single game. Which was fine - their wonderful coaches were waiting at the sidelines after every game with a round of high fives and tons of encouragement and praise for playing so hard. We parents did the same: after every game, we ran out on the field and formed a bridge for the Stars to run through, while we shouted and cheered for them.

This year? They've had two games and won both of them. We soccer parents are out of our minds, as you can imagine. But the games have been HARD. See, the entire league goes to the same school, so the kids are always playing against friends and classmates. In the first game, Elizabeth played against the team that my niece is on. In last nights game, the opposing team contained her best friend Katie. Who's mother is MY best friend. So the two families sat together, and cheering was way difficult. But fun anyway.

On the "excruciatingly cute" front, there were lots of younger siblings in the bleachers last night. Catherine and Alexander were adorable cheering "Go Elizabeth!". Katie's 2yo sister was cheering for Katie, and another mom we're friendly with had her three year old Savannah with her, who kept yelling "Go Sissy!". (While I personally think calling siblings sissy and bubby is gross and tacky, it was cute nevertheless. And I can kind of understand it in this case. Alexandria is a mouthful for a 2yo.)

I'll share some pics as soon as Kev teaches me how to put them on the blog.
